Nujabes - Feather ft CYNE

"Here lies an artisan of pure beauty." That's the only way I could describe Jun Seba in a space as small as a tombstone. 

"Designer Music" is a faintly ominous, alien sounding beat under a couple verses about clothes. This is nice, smooth music to turn off your mind to and relax. So why does my gut feel funny? Maybe it's because Self Scientific, whose chorus here is "I got designer jeans and a white tee/ an ounce of kush weed and some Nikes you've never seen", were the same group who attained fame and acclaim from their anti-materialism anthem "Return".

What's that called, when you lambast something, then turn around and do that same thing? Oh, yeah. Hypocrisy. Quote of the month: "I didn't know conscious niggas did it like this.

Danny Diggs-produced "The Calling" is by far my favorite hip hop of the week--a mellow, vibraphone-and-sax-dominated reflection on life in general, a subject which jazzy hip hop seems to be pretty damn good at exploring.
